Betty F. Hunt

Betty F. Hunt, 87, of Anderson, passed away April 24, 2012 at St. John’s Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born December 25, 1924 in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Charles William, Sr. and Minnie (Williams) Thornell. She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis and moved to Anderson in 1976. She retired from Hunt Insurance and Securities Inc. in 1994.

Betty was a member of Central Christian Church, where she was very active, and a member of Lady Elk’s and D.A.R. with member no. 893960. She was also a published poet and writer.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Hunt of Anderson; sister, Gloria Mae Ferguson of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, James Randall (wife, Karen) Hunt, Jr., Travis Hunt, Justin Randall Hunt and Danielle Hunt; five great grandchildren, Gage, Ashton, Cooper, Liam and Makenna; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Hunt; sons, William B. Hunt and James R. Hunt; and brothers, Charles W. Thornell, Jr. and Gerald F. Thornell.

The family would like to thank the medical and spiritual staff at St. John’s Medical Center for all the special care given to Betty this past month.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Vale officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.

Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Central Christian Church.
